CASE STUDY – Powering Refugee Camps

CASE STUDY – Powering Refugee Camps

In the heart of Uganda, Africa’s largest refugee host, providing sanctuary to over 1.5 million people, World Vision has been making significant strides in community engagement and supporting refugee camps. At the forefront of this transformative effort is the implementation of Tespack’s Solar Smart Media (SSM) system. Since April 2023, the World Vision Adjumani team has harnessed the power of this groundbreaking technology to conduct weekly sessions for local refugees, reaching approximately 85 individuals. This initiative not only illuminates classrooms but also plays a vital role in providing essential information to vulnerable communities in Uganda.

Implementing technology for good

At the core of this initiative is Tespack’s Smart Solar Media System, a groundbreaking technology designed to turn any space into a smart classroom. What sets this system apart is Tespack’s modular battery innovation (with embedded electronics), a game-changer that powers our integrated projector and wireless speakers. This combination allows the seamless display of audiovisual content, effectively transforming any environment into a hub of learning and engagement, which allows bringing the latest audiovisual content to refugee camps in Uganda.

Breaking Down Barriers:

The flexibility of the SSM system enables World Vision to transcend geographical constraints, reaching communities that were once considered inaccessible. Mizamili Ratibu, a Child Protection Facilitator with World Vision Adjumani, emphasizes the impact: “With the SSM system, World Vision in Adjumani has been able to deliver clear and impactful presentations, ensuring that our messages are effectively conveyed to the target audience.”

Remote Learning Redefined – Turning any space into a Smart classroom

The modular battery innovation plays a pivotal role in the success of the SSM system. Its ability to power our integrated projector and wireless speakers makes it an indispensable tool for remote learning initiatives. World Vision’s child-led initiatives at the local peace hub, featuring engaging videos powered by Tespack’s SSM system, exemplify the potential of this technology in bringing quality education to even the most remote areas.

Uninterrupted Energy & Digital Education

One of the standout features of the SSM system is its adaptability to areas with limited electricity access. Ratibu further emphasizes, “Its portability, compatibility with alternative power sources, and impressive image quality have made it an indispensable tool for our projects.” The system’s compatibility with alternative power sources ensures uninterrupted connectivity, breaking down barriers to education in regions with poor electricity supply.

World Vision Uganda Recommendation

“With the SSM system, World Vision in Adjumani has been able to deliver clear and impactful presentations, ensuring that our messages are effectively conveyed to the target audience. In conclusion, we want to express our satisfaction with the functionality and usage of the projector in reaching areas with poor electricity supply. Its portability, compatibility with alternative power sources, and impressive image quality have made it an indispensable tool for our projects. I would highly recommend this projector to other organizations or individuals working in similar environments”
